A Promise Unkept (despite best intentions)

To all of you who take the time and care enough to read this site it had been my intent to write on a daily basis and as close to "in real-time" in relation to the events of our project as I could. Unfortunately, when we arrived we found that the system we put in last year had deteriorated to a degree that serious repairs and revisions to the it were in order beyond what we had planned on doing with this years project. Out of the 5 and 1/2 days that we had dedicated to the new project we conservatively used 2 and 1/2 of those days troubleshooting, re-designing and fixing the old one with time we had budgeted for the new one. In essence, despite arriving on Isla Popa II on Tuesday, we did not meaningfully get underway with the new project until Friday, mid-morning. That said, I simply never had time to take the 30-40 minutes per day necessary to get the computer booted up, find an internet connection and write of the days events. For this, I apologize. In its place I tried to keep a running log of "headings" or "topics" on my phone to do list, as well as a bunch of notes I penciled into the margins of a paperback, that I can now begin to expand upon and share with. But, if you read on I will tell you a wonderous story full of adventure, action, heartbreaks, monsters,  miracles, giants and True Love.

So, without further  ado, from my suite on the 3rd floor of the JW Marriott in Rio Hato, Panama...

...Behold!  I bring you a visual oxymoron!

  2. The boots were GREAT! They were easy to travel with and resisted being pulled off even in the worst of the mud and muck. There were times when it was almost impossible to get my foot unstuck from the mud but the boots stayed on. My feet stayed clean and dry. The only problem came on the last full work day when I had to open one of the tanks while it was full of water and got soaked with water pouring INTO the boots. Once they get wet (on the inside) they STAY wet.
